Difficult Things to Overcome For A Smoother 2018

Wow! 2018 is here with a fierce vengeance!

I am sure many of you agree with me, but time certainly is flying. Now, I am not one for New Year’s Resolutions; however, I do feel that I want to bring happy and calming things into my new year. That is why I encourage you to do some difficult things, with me, to ensure we have a successful 2018!
One of the things I have pledged to do is to leave the pain of 2017 in 2017. Rather than to dwell on the hurt, I have decided to focus on the strength gained, and to appreciate how far I have come. I want to focus on the next step, and to move forward with grace and resiliency

But what exactly is the next best step forward?
The answer is to do something uncomfortable that will move your life forward.
A lot of my time in the past has been spent worrying about so many different things. I have a degree of high functioning anxiety, meaning I have concerns about the concerns that I have.
In the past year, I have found out the even though I worry about a lot of things, almost none of my worries ever came to pass. Which means that I have spent almost half my year concerned about things that did not even exist…?

Well, I will not be bringing my silly stressors into 2018! Instead of spending time worrying, I want to spend time working and enjoying life, and most importantly to live with no regrets.
I do not want to make poor decisions anymore and in most cases the poor decisions we continuously make, and the ensuing regrets we face, are caused not by physical problems in our lives, but instead by weaknesses and bad habits to avoid pain and discomfort.

Turning Things Around in 2018
I don’t know about you, but I no longer want to hold onto any bad habits in 2018. I want a positive, clearer and happier year.
I want to work to purge some bad habits, and embrace discomfort as I prepare for the year ahead. An important thing to learn is that if your habits do not help you then they hurt you (just like my endless worrying).

So, in honor of changing and challenging ourselves, I have pledged to do 3 uncomfortable things to prepare for a happy 2018…

  1. I pledge to challenge my absolutes and certainties. – Happiness and success does not come from always living in your comfort zone. I pledge to try new things this year without unhealthy worry, to make myself grow and change.
    It is important to still hold tightly to your core values while at the same time opening up to new experiences and opportunities. Your own perspective can become tangible when you look at things from different angles. I want to find ways of pursuing healthy, new and exciting opportunities, rather than turning them down out of fear
  2. I pledge to monitor how I invest my energy in everyday life – To attract a better life; I first need to start taking responsibility for my life. I can’t blame someone else.
    This means I am going to spend time figuring out where my time goes, and to stop doing unnecessary things that do not grow, improve or sustain me. It’s time to focus on what really matters.
  3. I pledge to consistently work on meaningful goals. – When you focus your heart and mind upon a purpose, and commit yourself to fulfill that purpose through small daily steps, positive energy floods into your life.

Sadly, many of us miss the mark. As they say, there are seven days in the week and “someday” isn’t one of them. So work towards your goals, doing something small every day to move you to the person you want to be next year!
